VAC WAVE - 12.8.2020
Home Discussions Workshop Market Broadcasts. Change language. Install Steam. Me View Profile View Posts. Hi, So I've been attempting to message steam support for about two months now, about a false VAC ban. I know most people are skeptical of the existence of them, I am not asking you to believe me, just to provide information for the hypothetical scenario for if it were to happen.
I've had 2 steam support tickets, all of which were automatically responded to and closed. I've tried emailing numerous Valve employees, as well as a few who are in support and received no response. What would be the best way for me to get their attention and have them actually look into the cause of the ban, to see that it is false?

I know for a fact that I wasn't cheating, therefore something else must have set it off, such as a software debugger. If I was able to properly talk with them we could sort it out.
Okay, thanks. I'll try that. Satoru View Profile View Posts. You broke the cardiac rule Don't test shadystuff on your production machine You were likely testing your "anti cheat" on your system and triggered the ban. Last edited by Satoru ; 11 Jul, am. Charlie View Profile View Posts. False VAC bans do and have happened; it is not a flawless system.

I think if he wanted to test an anti cheat, he'd use TF2 or something free But yes I know people who have been banned for accidently leaving trainers or cheat engine open, or accidently attaching a debugger to the wrong process or loading csgo and forgetting to close it even when the target was a single player game.
If you've been vac'd, your done. End of story. Originally posted by Satoru :.
There's nothing you can do once they confirm the ban. Originally posted by Cemetery Crepes :.

Lunacy View Profile View Posts. Happened to a friend in Dungeon Defenders, they bought an OP item in someone's store which turned out to be a hacked item so now their profile is scarred for life. Last edited by Lunacy ; 12 Jul, am. Lunacy, that's now how VAC works. In Dungeon Defenders you got banned from the developer from their own network, you did not get a VAC ban. How did this happen? I barely even play competitive at all with only 64 wins in over a year? I love this game and never griefed, cheated, traded accounts, let anyone else play on my acc, shared my games ect.
This post will do absolutelly nothing considering Valve's Anti-Cheat Policy, but after complaining for well over 6 months about incredible amounts of blatant cheaters I get banned for absolutely no reason? How come are stupid people who apparently can't play the game reviewing my Overwatch replays and saying I'm cheating even tho I'm not?

Well, I'd like to see what would happen if you got falsely VAC banned. What am I supposed to do? I've played an average of over 2 hours every day in the past year and have been practising on it. I played 1v1 servers most of the time and didn't play much competitive at all. Please read the whole thing before commenting this, you believe what you want but if I actually got banned for a reason I doubt I would have taken the time to practise, play for over 2hrs avg.
Alex View Profile View Posts. Dean View Profile View Posts. Got a VAC ban? I just happened to get banned for no reason. By the way, a VAC ban is file related. You guys say whatever. Valve is basically a dictator. I've put so much time into this game and legit planned into going competitive. All we have are 12 years olds calling everyone cheaters and reporting them for no reason. The thing is I haven't installed any program on my computer for weeks, so why did I just get banned?
It makes no sense. When the software detects a cheat on a player's system, it will ban them in the future, possibly days or weeks after the original detection. No information such as date of detection or type of cheat detected is disclosed to the player.
After the player is notified, access to online "VAC protected" servers of the game the player cheated in is permanently revoked and additional restrictions are applied to the player's Steam account. During one week of Novemberthe system detected over 10, cheating attempts. InEven Balance Inc. Valve had also rejected business offers of integrating the technology directly into their games.
Valve started working on a "long-term solution" for cheating in During this initial release, the system only banned players for 24 hours. During the early testing phase insome information was revealed about the program via the Half-Life Dedicated Server mailing lists.
Information on detected cheaters is sent to the ban list server on IP address Eric Smith and Nick Shaffner were the original contacts for game administrators. In Julyseveral players who successfully used information leaked from Valve to increase their chances of finding a rare Team Fortress 2 weapon called the Golden Wrench were banned by VAC. These bans were revoked and those affected received a free copy of Left 4 Dead 2 or an extra copy to send as a gift.
In Februaryrumors spread that the system was monitoring websites users had visited by accessing their DNS cache. Gabe Newell responded via Redditclarifying that the purpose of the check was to act as a secondary counter-measure to detect kernel level cheatsand that it affected fewer than 0. As of Maythe system began banning accounts that were registered with the same phone number.
In FebruaryValve announced plans to introduce a machine-learning approach to detecting cheats in Counter-Strike: Global Offensiveand that an initial version of the system was already in place, which would automatically mark players for manual detection by players through the "Overwatch" system. Valve rarely discusses the software, as it may help cheaters write new code or conduct social engineering. The software sends client challenges to the machine; if the appropriate response is not received, it is flagged as a possible violation.
It uses Signature Scanning to detect possible cheats when scanning the computer's memory and processes.
The engineers may inspect the code and run it on their own copies of the game. If the code is confirmed as a new cheat, it is added to the database of cheat codes. According to Steam's lead engineer John Cook, to stop the anti-cheat software itself from being exploited, "The software is constantly updated and sent down in small portions for the servers as needed, so hackers only get to see small portions of it running at any particular time.Upon putting an example in the search area, the information is checked to see if the account is VAC banned.
If banned and not in the list, it is automatically added. Valve informed us that there was a bug in their Steam API which would sometimes return that an account is banned when it isn't. This bug has been there for about a year. This means for us that some of the accounts shown as "unbanned" for the past year have really never been banned. Searches using this new format are now supported by our website.
Valve recently added the 'Number of days since last ban' field to the SteamCommunity profiles. We're currently updating the 'First seen as banned' date on our pages to the last ban if it is older than the one we currently have.
We have added some more detailed SteamID information to our pages. We have recently made a new bot and checked all the SteamIDs created since Steam release. We have now over 86 millions of SteamIDs in our database. About 1 month ago, Valve limited the number of queries that can be done to steamcommunity.
A lot of the queries to check SteamIDs failed. We have now fixed the problem by switching to their WebAPI. As more and more SteamIDs were being added to the database, the loading times of the site became much slower. We have now added a cache, so the SteamIDs listing won't show up in real time, they will be updated every 3 hours. No modifications for the search form, it's still in real time. Currently, 20 millions of unique SteamIDs have been checked, and only 5,7 millions of them had existing Steam Accounts.
In no more than a week we should have checked the full list of existing SteamIDs. We wish you a happy new year !
Try to not be vac banned this year! If you have suggestions in order to improve VACBanned. We fixed a bug that caused some of the unbanned Steam accounts to not show up at all in the unbanned list.I felt like playing some dotes for the first time on almost 3 months. When I logged in there was a giant banner at top saying I had been VaC banned not sure what program it thinks triggered it.
I effectively only have steam on my comp, only run dota, even avoid things like overwolf so this cannot happen. When I attempt to contact support about it in any way I can.
All I get is the copy paste bot saying they cannot do refunds after 2 weeks. I know I could try and fight the charges with my bank. But if I was going to go through that level of BS I'd get a lawyer first. And final thought, they only refund as steam money.
So no matter what Valve stole my money and gets to keep it Anyone know a way to contact a human at support? Earlier this year it took me 4 months to get a human to fix a problem. After that was ignored for another month us about a SECOND glitch that resulted in my 3 month break bc seriously valve.
I was able to stop the auto renewal via logging in with my mobile app. So it seems I had at least 4 different bugs going on Funny that they never even fixed or acknowledged the second bug I had before a 3rd on resulting in a false VaC ban during inactive months Easily s of billions via Steam, and we allow this level of garbage from them. I could not. As stated. It said I did not have an active subscription followed my an error string code And honestly is the least factor.
Truly absurd what we allow them to get away with. I literally did nothing thoughHome Discussions Workshop Market Broadcasts. Change language. Install Steam. This topic has been locked. Im not sure if that would trigger it but I never went in a public match. Yes I will admit to cheating only because I wanted to see what using a mod menu was like and I had never used one.
I went in-to the "funny mods" section and tried to spawn something. I cannot remember what it said After the minute match I uninstalled the client and the script then preceeded to clear my recycle bin. I will admit I was cheat for five minutes in a private match, but I never thought or even tried to join a public match.
I know that the chances of my account getting unvac banned are VERY low, but please take what I said into consideration.
Im not sure if this could cause the vac ban but I did use a glitch to steal someones emblem, but the glitch is well known and is used by tons of people. Showing 1 - 14 of 14 comments. Chompman View Profile View Posts. It will not matter how long you cheated for if the automated system caught you then it's permanent. Albcatmastercat View Profile View Posts. You answered your own question. Offline games are also VAC-Protected. VAC bans are delayed. The time that you saw the ban appear on your profile is irrelevant.
Please read the pinned thread. Be sure to also read pages linked from within that pinned thread. All this and more is covered in the pinned thread linked above, including pages linked within it. Yeah only used once offline. Im sure thats how cheats are normally used. You got caught, be a man about it own your issues. Originally posted by Knight :. The chances of loading up a "cheat" and playing for only minutes and exiting and seeing a VAC ban appear, asserting that was the actual cause of the VAC ban, is possibly more rare than a false positive, and false positive VAC bans, if indeed found to be false, will be automatically removed.
As said, VAC bans are delayed. But no one here knows how the delay system works, exactly, as that is secret info and a function of how VAC works. Please, read the pinned thread. Explaining yourself here is not going to solve anything ,as we here have no power over VAC bans at all, whatsoever.
